Sir:-
Co 198 37602
VICKERS HOUSE,
Rras 23 NOV !! BROADWAY,
WESTMINSTER.
15th November, 1911.
Referring to the conversation I had the honour of
having with you last night concerning Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen,
and in accordance with your kind suggestion I now have the
honour to formally request, on behalf of Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen,
that the order passed by the Governor in 1896 banishing
him for five years against residing in Hongkong may now
be withdrawn.
Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen has informed me that it is not
likely that he will reside for any length of time in Hong-
kong but it may be convenient for him to be there for a
short period, and as he is especially anxious to work in
full harmony with the British Government in matters con-
cerning China he feels that his being prevented from
visiting Hongkong is hurtful to his personal feelings.
(Signed)
I have &c.,
A. Trevor Dawson.
The Right Honourable
Sir Edward Grey, Bart., X.P.,
